Narrative
Revolutionary war as "2nd class, Abraham Hiestand" in Capt Peter Kooken's First Battalion, 5th company, Northampton County Militia
Have not been able to trace back. Undoubtedly the son or grandson of the immigrant Hiestand who came from Switzerland (Swiss Anabaptists) throught the "Palatinate" on the Rhine, part of Germany -- many in excile years of 1671 and 1711. It seems there may have been 4 immigrant brothers, but this is not really clear. These Swiss descendants make up the majority of SE PA Mennonite familes.
An Abraham Hiestand immigrated 1726.
