"Robert Pyle was a Quaker in Devises, Wiltshire, Eng. He was whipped in the streets for preaching. Robert Pyle and Ann Stovey were married in 1681 in England and immigrated to the U.S. in 1682 and settled in Bethel, PA in 1684. Robert and Ann Pyle came over on the ship "Bristol Comfort" The master of the ship was John Reeves. "PA Colony, Vol. 1 Passengers of Ships" Robert was Clerk of West Chester Co. Quaker meetings and often held the meetings in his home."
