Narrative
"Amos Lloyd Pyle was in the first class at West Minister College. He was expected to become a minister but decided to farm instead. He was killed by a rock falling on him while building the foundation to his farm house at Camp Run in Perry Township, Lawrence County, PA. Christiana Mehard Pyle, his wife, went to live in Wurtemburg, Pa and most of the children were given to relatives to raise. Anna Luella stayed with her mother. One of the boys went to live with Lily Steffler. After Amos Lloyd's death the Pyle farm was given to his brother, John Lemoyne Pyle, and stayed in the family until about 1993. The grinding wheels to the grist mill were still on the property in July 1996 when we visited the property. The family cemetery is also there, on the hill overlooking Camp Run Creek."
